The whole point
A batch background remover puts one background behind every file
This is the difference between a bulk tool and the same tool run ten times. You make the background decision once, it is the same decision for every cut-out, and that is also why the set looks consistent enough to publish in one grid.
- Transparent: A PNG with a real alpha channel for every file, soft edges included. The default, and the right pick when the batch is going into a template that decides the background itself.
- Pure white: Exactly RGB 255,255,255, which is what a marketplace listing check is looking for, rather than an off-white that passes on your monitor and gets the listing flagged.
- Black or a brand colour: One dark backdrop or one colour across the whole set. Type a hex once and every cut-out sits on it.
- By selection: Tick individual rows and the run touches only those. Tick none and it touches everything, which is what somebody who never noticed the checkboxes expects.
Changing your mind after the run is cheap, which is not true of most batch tools. The cut-outs are kept once they are made, so switching the batch from white to black re-composites the finished files rather than segmenting them again: one button, a few seconds, no second pass of the model.
White here is exact, not approximate. Marketplaces reject an off-white main image, and 'it looked white on my screen' is how a whole batch of listings comes back for a reupload.
What no other bulk tool does
Fix the one cut-out that came out wrong, without redoing the batch
An automatic cut-out is very good and occasionally wrong, and which one it is wrong on is not knowable in advance: it is whichever photo had a subject roughly the colour of its background. Every other bulk background remover answers that with 'run it again' or 'upload that one somewhere else'. Here you click the card.
The batch keeps each cut-out after the run, so reopening one costs nothing and changes nothing else. The image fills the screen at working resolution with the same tools the single-image page has, you fix what is wrong, and only that file is rebuilt. The other nine are not touched, not re-run, and not re-encoded.
- Shrink edges: Pulls the cut-out inwards a pixel or two. This is the fix for a halo, which is the single most common flaw in an automatic cut-out, and one drag usually clears it.
- Soften edges: Blurs the boundary slightly so a shrunk edge stops looking like it was cut with scissors. Two pixels is often the difference between a composite that reads as real and one that reads as a sticker.
- Erase and restore: Paint away a patch of background the model kept, or paint back a piece of the subject it cut off. A pale sleeve against a pale wall, the handle of a mug, a shadow under a product.
- A background for that file alone: Give one image its own backdrop while the rest keep the batch's. It stays that way afterwards, so restyling the batch will not quietly overwrite a decision you made on purpose.
This is also the honest answer to removing backgrounds without losing quality across a batch. Nothing here re-encodes your photograph or drops its resolution: the edits change the transparency, the file is rebuilt at full size from the model's original matte, and the pixels of the subject are the pixels you uploaded. What varies between a good cut-out and a bad one is where the boundary landed, and that is exactly what these four controls move.
A brush cannot invent detail the model never captured. Where fine hair was blended into a background of the same colour, painting it back gives you a blob in the shape of your brush, and the honest answer there is still a different source photo.

Product shots are also where the review pass earns its keep. A catalogue is the one context where a single bad cut-out is expensive: it is the image a buyer decides on, and a halo around a white mug on a white background is the exact failure an automatic tool is most likely to produce. Ten listings is few enough to actually look at all of them, which is another reason the ceiling is where it is.
The rest of the workflow is boring and it holds up: cut every photo out on White here, resize the set to identical dimensions with the bulk image resizer, then run the folder through the bulk image compressor so the page actually loads. Consistency across a grid of thumbnails does more for a shop than any single hero photo.
A transparent background maker that works on a whole folder

- JPGs become PNGs: JPEG has no alpha channel, so a transparent result out of a JPG has to change format, and the row says so. A batch of mixed JPGs and PNGs comes back as all PNGs when the background is transparent.
- PNGs and WebPs keep their format: A PNG stays a PNG, a WebP stays a WebP with its transparency intact. Nothing in the batch is converted behind your back except the JPGs that had no choice.
- Soft edges survive: Antialiased edges, the rim of a glass, loose strands of hair: those come back semi-transparent per file, which is what stops a cut-out looking like it was scissored out.
The checkerboard behind every preview is the tool telling you the truth. A cut-out on a white card and a cut-out on a white background look identical on screen, so without something behind it there is no way to know which one you are about to download, and in a batch of ten that mistake multiplies.
A transparent PNG with a lot of soft edges can be heavier than the JPG it started as. If the set is going on the web, run it through the bulk image compressor after, in that order.

Why the batch stops at 10 images
10 is where a segmentation queue stops being something you wait out and starts being a tab you abandon. It is a lower ceiling than the compressor's or the resizer's, and it is worth saying why, because most tools with a cap will not tell you which kind theirs is.
One background removal is not a quick encode. It is a full segmentation pass over every pixel of the image, a few seconds each on a good laptop and noticeably longer on a phone, on top of the one-time 40 MB model download. Ten of those in a row is a coffee; fifty is long enough that people close the tab and assume it hung.
Ten is also about as many results as anybody will genuinely check. The review pass is half of what this page is for, and a ceiling that produces more cut-outs than a person will look at would be quietly encouraging them to ship the one that came out wrong.

Every cut-out comes back at the pixel size it went in as. There is no size control here, because forcing a queue of mixed photos to one dimension that somebody guessed at once is the kind of setting that ruins a run quietly, and because 'the same size' is not even a complete instruction until you say whether you meant a percentage, a ceiling or exact dimensions. That is a question with its own tool and its own three answers.
The order that works for a catalogue: cut the backgrounds out here, resize the set to identical dimensions, then compress it. Doing it the other way round means compressing files you are about to rewrite.
